UK Prison Service/HMPPS LGBT+ (service users and staff) support initiative

The Network has been working since 2019 with the UK Prison Service in regard to Prison Service (HMPPS) prisons at Operational level concerning LGBT and especially LGBTQ+ freedom from anti-LGBT bullying and meaningful achievement of equality and inclusion.

Our main direct area of operation to date has been the two prisons in Portland and the related HMPPS Avon & South Dorset prisons group, however our work extends to the national level. In this we are the only outside of the Prison Service, UK LGBT+ human rights equality and inclusion and anti-LGBT prejudice organisation to have a clear focus for meaningful change.

Network work in this too overlooked area involves both direct practical impacts orientated educational work with HMPPS and HMPPS associated services providers, and at national Policy level: https://lgbtnetwork4change.com/the-lgbt-network-for-change-contacts-the-ceo-of-the-uk-prison-service-on-its-experiences-of-engagement-with-portland-prison-and-the-avon-south-dorset-hmpps/

More details on our work in this area will be added in June/early July 2022
